Visit to Stoke Poges and Eton on Wednesday 28th July 2021

The third visit this summer will be to Stoke Poges and Eton on Wednesday 28th July.  In order to stay as safe as possible we recommend that members travel during this visit in their own cars.  We begin the day at the Gray Monument (carpark nearby) and our expert guides, Roger Askew and Diana le Clercq will lead us on a ‘biographical’ tour seeing a number of significant places connected to Thomas Gray’s life.  The walk will be gentle with many places to stop and sit down.  After lunch we will drive to Eton (15 minutes by car) where the Emeritus Librarian, Michael Meredith, will welcome us into the beautiful old Library and show us the Gray Manuscripts.  The cost of this visit is £75 per person which includes our lunch and all our guides.  Please register your interest by filling in the Application Form or by getting in touch with our Membership Secretary, Serena Merton by email:  Nearer the time we will give you more precise details of the visit and give you a map, postcodes etc.
